Benny Wenda meeting Rt Hon David Cameron, leader of the British Conservative Party

Soon after being granted political asylum in the United Kingdom, Benny began campaigning for the self-determination of his people on a wide range of fronts, utilising politics and music. He set up the Free West Papua Campaign, which works to spread awareness of human rights abuse in West Papua and seeks self-determination for the people of Papua. He has met with prominent politicians and presented petitions to 10 Downing Street. He travels constantly throughout the UK and Europe, giving talks at universities, local action groups and festivals, raising awareness about the plight of his people.
